Help Us Reconstruct the Fire-Damaged Academe Building

We are saddened to inform you that the Francis Senden Hall and the whole third floor of the Academe Building were gutted by fire early in the morning on 11th January 2019.

We know that the Francis Senden Memorial Hall was a silent witness to many memorable milestones and celebrations during your student life in ASI.

The Francis Senden Hall is important to the ASI family because:

  • - It is where we hold classes for the Philosophy of Commitment to Total Human Development (PCTHD);
  • - It is where we hold the annual International Diploma Course in Community Development (IDCCD);
  • - It is where we celebrate the Asian Festival and other cultural fests to showcase our cultural diversity and rich heritage of Asia.
  • - It is where aspiring Social Workers review for their Licensure Examination
  • - It is where we hold interfaith celebrations, Christmas Party, Steamboat, and Agape.
  • - It where we hold special graduation ceremonies, the most recent of which was held on 23rd November 2018 with fifteen 15 graduates, most of whom were Misereor scholars.
  • - It is where we hold the annual Francis Senden Memorial Lecture and other national fora and workshops.
  • - In other words, it is where we practice our learning philosophy of ‘action, reflection, and celebration.

The Senden Hall is much, much more than just a venue though. For Senden Hall symbolizes the vision and mission of ASI and its founder. Thus, we want to appeal to you to ensure that we continue to pursue these and enable our current and future students to partake of the ASI spirit engendered in this venerable institution. With the Academe Building decommissioned, classes will be held in the Administration Building utilizing the few vacant rooms.

Hence, in the spirit of solidarity with the ASI family, we appeal to you in helping us fundraise for the reconstruction of the Academe Building. For your donations, you can click the ‘Share in the Mission of ASI’ button found at the lower right corner of the ASI website https://www.asinet-online.org/.
